The Hurt Locker - Mise En Scene

"The Hurt Locker" is a film set in the war ridden Middle-East and follows an army unit which seem to specialise in bomb disposal. Lots of Mise-En-Scene is used to create a sense of realism in this picture. The location certainly seems authentic which really sells the idea of them being in the situation that they have found themselves in. A genuine-looking bomb disposal suit is used to give even more realism to the film, and all of the other characters are either dressed in an army uniform, or as a Middle-Eastern citizen. Real army vehicles are used which makes the whole scene seem as real as it possibly could do. Realistic looking guns are also carried by all of the army troops, because that it was would happen in real life. All of these props make for a very realistic film.

 This image shows a woman in a golden dress, looking out of a huge window, and out to a spectacular view. This implies that if you wear this fragrance then you too will be rich and successful and live in a mega expensive apartment with a view like this. The colour of gold is also largely present in this image, her hair is gold, her dress is gold, and the city lights are gold. This connotes riches and success, and represents this woman as a very successful, classy, and wealthy woman, all because she is wearing the fragrance.

 This next image shows the same woman on what is probably a photo shoot. She is in the middle of the desert for some reason, and there is a giant fan which is blowing air at her. This makes her look very glamorous and shows that she is a model, and successful. Only successful models tend to get flown out to the desert for a photo shoot.

This last still, shows the same woman spraying her perfume onto her neck. Once more, the colour gold is heavily present, which makes her look incredibly glamorous. Her facial expression is one of intense pleasure, which implies that this magical fragrance will fill you with deep pleasure if you wear it. Her hair is also free flowing and loose, which connotes freedom and sexual availability. She has lots of make up on her face which makes her skin look completely flawless and perfect, and she also glows. This image is the most powerful in my opinion because it hints at a lot of values that most women want to be; rich, beautiful, and glamorous.
